He’s beginning to feel a little bi-furious.
About the show
Somewhere out there is a creature so terrifying, most humans dare not speak its name: the BISEXUAL.
Junior just wants to be an ordinary guy. But it feels like everyone knows he isn't. Bullies pick him apart for being different, while his father wants him to be manlier. Aside from all that, he also wrestles with dreams and desires he can't tell anyone about — he can barely admit them to himself.
As if things couldn't get worse for Junior, bodies start turning up in his small town, and suspicion falls on savage mythical beings. Ravenous, indiscriminate but confused creatures who sound eerily similar to him…
A one-person horror teen movie for the stage, this award-nominated, satirical beast of a show exposes the horrors of growing up as a bi man. Written and performed by Polis Loizou.

After successful outings in Buxton, London and Edinburgh, the piece is now being developed for a small initial tour in October and November 2026. Thank you to Arts Council England.
While I’ll still be writing and producing, I’m now looking for a new performer to take over from me in the role, as well as a brilliant crew to take this show to greater heights!
Join the pack
Take a look at the available roles and descriptions below, then follow the link below to apply. I’m open to anyone from anywhere with a track record in making theatre of any kind, but particularly encourage applications from LGBTQIA+ creatives based in the East Midlands. This is an inclusive production, and no bigotry of any kind will be tolerated. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me.
Some prep and auditions will be happening from June (this is flexible). Rehearsals and development will follow in September, with performances from mid-October to November.
PLEASE NOTE: Development and rehearsals will be taking place in Nottingham, so the director will ideally be based within easy commuting distance. Please be aware that accommodation and travel will only be provided for the performer and stage manager on tour dates.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS FRIDAY 5TH JUNE AT 5PM

Director
This would suit a detailed, imaginative individual who loves new writing and has experience of small-scale productions, ideally one-person theatre.
The show is influenced by horror movies of the ‘40s and ‘50s, and this new version will incorporate elements of teen films of the ‘90s, so someone with an interest in both those genres would be perfect.
Fee: £3,276.25 total (includes prep, auditions and 3 weeks of rehearsal).
Extra £150 towards a show visit.
-
Stage Manager
While this is a pretty low-maintenance one-person show, we’ll be counting on someone efficient and organised who can make sure it runs smoothly. Aside from attending rehearsals, you’ll be expected to accompany the performer on tour.
Fee: £3,393.00 (includes 3 weeks of rehearsal and 10 performances) + per diems and living allowance for one week.
Tour travel and accommodation provided.
-
Marketing Manager
You’ll bring a creative, engaging approach in helping us reach our audiences, whether by contacting press or creating social media content.
You’ll ideally be documenting rehearsals, so someone local to Nottingham would be preferred, but remote workers will definitely be considered.
Fee: £1,200 for 60 hours (flexible, between July and November)
-
Set & Costume Designer
A visionary who can evoke both the 1950s and 1990s would be the dream – and who can work with small spaces, or at least create adaptable designs for this tour.
This is primarily a set design role – the script only requires minimal, basic costume. There is a separate budget for that plus set and materials.
Fee: £3,211.50
-
Sound Designer / Composer
While it would be great to have music that could’ve come from an RKO film in the ‘40s, it’s not totally essential. The story involves radio news bulletins that need to sound vintage, and incidental sounds like dog barks.
Fee: £1,500
-
Lighting Designer
Riffing on both vintage horror films and ‘90s teen movies, the show intends to be both funny and creepy, so someone who can combine dramatic, creepy mood with lightness would be just the ticket.
Fee: £1,500
-
Videographer-Editor
A creative collaborator is needed for this one. As it’s inspired by movies, the show aims to have projection at some point in its life, so this will be more of an experimental period. A love of vintage horror would be nice, but most important are ideas and openness to trying things out based on the script and the rehearsals.
Fee: £1,250
