You Oughta Be In Pictures
“Keep your pretty head, son, or you’ll lose it.”
Hollywood, the 1940s.
A charismatic film director auditions a young actor for a horror movie whose lead has died under mysterious circumstances. As he shares tales of exploitation, broken promises, sex, cults, and the fine line between artifice and truth, it transpires there may be a more malevolent eye than that of the camera in the room. But the horrors on screen were never real – were they?
Award-winning theatre-maker Polis Loizou returns with a tale to fill you with dread... and doubt.

What audiences had to say
“It's OK, I didn't need to sleep tonight anyway.”
“A class performer who makes a one-man show look effortless.”
“Spellbinding. Polis Loizou is of course brilliant.”
“Polis has such a great performance face, effortlessly switching from overwhelming charm to threateningly sinister from moment to moment.”
“INCREDIBLE - absolutely gripping from start to end, something I didn't think was possible for a one-man show.”
“Imaginatively framed, haunting and clever, and, crucially for a show with this premise, entirely plausible and superbly acted.”
This piece was performed at Edinburgh Fringe 2025 as part of PBH Free Fringe. I’m forever indebted to the Banshee Labyrinth’s Cinema Room for inspiring it in the first place.
“A brilliant reminder of how great one-person performances can be.”
“Unsettling... a great gradual buildup of discomfort.”
“Brilliant show, ideal location.”
